HENRY J. TAYLOR, the ABC news commentator, will go on the air from Dartmouth Hall on Monday, October 18, from 8 to 8:15 p.m., just prior to his lecture in the Great Issues course. Mr. Taylor will be lecturing to the seniors on "Looking Ahead at Home and Abroad" as part of the general course topic, "The Role of Government in Society." Under this same general topic, Norman Thomas will lecture October 25 on "Government for the People."

¶ The Dartmouth Trustees have approved the continuance of the Hanover Inn Board of Overseers under the plan of organization adopted in 1951. Since then the Inn has been entirely supervised by a board of qualified and interested alumni and has operated in the black each year despite substantial expenditures for improvements. A change has been made in the terms of board members so they will serve for staggered periods. The new membership includes Herman W. Newell '20, Carl E. Newton '20 and William L. Marcy '21 for one year; Chairman Victor G. Borella '30, Archie B. Gile '17 and Lane Dwinell '28 for two years; and Chandler H. Foster '15 and James D. Landauer '23 for three years. One vacancy created by the retirement of John R. Mason '15 remains to be filled. E. Spencer Miller '31 again represents the Alumni Council on the board and John F. Meek '33, Treasurer and Vice President of the College, continues to serve ex officio.

¶ The most interesting bit of summer construction by the College was the group of four prefabricated houses erected for rental to the faculty and staff officers. These new structures, just off East Wheelock Street at the foot of Velvet Rocks, are one-story, ranch-type houses of three bedrooms, living-dining room, kitchen and bath. Three of the houses have carports and the fourth a garage in the basement. The housing shortage for college families with more than one child has been acute for some years, and the new experimental development of prefabricated units may lead to an expansion of this type of faculty housing. The new houses have been sited to take advantage of the view of Velvet Rocks to the east and south and to afford each the best possible use of the land area. E. H. and E. K. Hunter, Hanover architects, were engaged by the College to advise on house locations, landscaping, and exterior and interior decorative treatment.
