President Ed Hodgson '42 conducted our first regular monthly luncheon meeting of the current season on October 12, with a very good turnout. Guest of honor was Prof. Maurice F. Longhurst, who was until his recent retirement, Professor of Music at Dartmouth. Drawing freely from his 33 years' experience (he came to Hanover in 1931), Professor Longhurst delivered a very interesting talk and freely answered questions put to him by his most receptive audience. We consider ourselves most fortunate that the good Professor and his wife are now permanent residents of Miami, Fla. Professor Longhurst is organist at All Souls Episcopal Church.
Chuck Garnsey '20 gave a highly entertaining talk about his trip to Charleston, S. C., this summer where he helped to organize a local Dartmouth Club - styled "The Dartmouth Club of the Low Countries." Chuck stated that while the South Carolina group is small, numbering not more than twelve, they are an enthusiastic bunch, and one which he believes will make an active club.
Milt Patterson 'go told us of his September trip to Hanover. The account of his stay was both informative and highly amusing. The weather was a strange admixture of "Hanover weather" and then some stuff that blew in from California. Changes which took place since Milt was last in Hanover were many, although the B. & M. has not changed at all since his college days.
Dick Maloy '49 concluded the program with an analysis of the football team and a prognostication of results to come from this season - "not in the Orange Bowl this coming New Year's Day, but wait till next year."
We hold luncheon meetings the second Tuesday of each month. Remember.
