IN the form introduced last December, the annual Alumni Fund Report is again presented as a special supplement in the middle of this issue. The names of the Dartmouth men who contributed to 1954's record breaking Fund will be found listed in the class columns beginning on Page 39.
Two hundred years ago this month, on December 18, 1754, Eleazar Wheelock opened the Indian Charity School that eventually became Dartmouth College. The story of the founding of the School and its operation for fifteen years until the granting of the Dartmouth charter in 1769 is told by Edward Connery Lathem '51, director of the Division of Special Collections in Baker Library. Other articles deal with the trips abroad by Germania's student players (Page 19), the financial operations of the College for 1953-54 (Page 21) and the four years of research by Ford H. Whelden '25 to compile for the first time a complete record of giving to Dartmouth (Page 24).
