ARE YOU GOING TO BE IN HANOVERIN JUNE?

If so, and if you do not want to sleep on the campus on the dates of June 17 to 21, or fractional parts thereof, it is necessary that you write at once to Max A. Norton, College Bursar, to apply for a room with the '08 delegation. Do it right now and then forget it. College facilities are always taxed to the limit at these times, but if we act promptly we can be bedded down in South Massachusetts, sometimes thought of as the Home for Aged Men. The above dates are those of the week following Commencement, and apply to the '08 annual, purely informal reunion — at which time those of the Class who care to do so, meet to review the past, and dream dreams for the next fifty years. Coming?

THE ANNUAL BOSTON DINNER was held at the Statler, February 17. Among the largest crowd ever to attend, the following stalwarts of 'OB adorned Table 10: Knox,Gleason, McCarty, Everett, Jordan, Lowe,Parson, Bill English and Squier. Our Bill English prayed the whole gathering into grace in the invocation. President Dickey gave another of his stirring talks, though evidently suffering under the strain of physical distress. He had been having an attack of "fleabiteus" and though not fully recovered, just refused to miss the Boston dinner. A WAH HOO WAH! for John Dickey. Red Rolfe, Lew Turner and Dave MacLaughlin served the athletic menu.

Here's a good letter from Long Tommie, nee Philip L. Thompson. Bless his heart for brightening up this page as follows:

"Since 1911 I have resided in Yonkers, N. Y. I am still working, but hope to retire soon. From 1908 to 1945 I was with the Hastings Pavement Co. of New York, but since 1946 I have been with Sam Bartlett '07, BartlettWilson Inc. of New York. My work is supervising construction, mostly in New York, and I am a licensed professional engineer. My health is good for my age, as I have had no operations and few doctor's bills. In the summer I usually spend a few weeks at Lake Mansfield Trout Club in Stowe, Vt., where I relax, visit with old friends and enjoy trout fishing. I think John Hinman is suspicious of how I catch trout. Once, after a visit with him at a Dartmouth dinner, he sent me a note enclosing a fly, just as a suggestion. I also visit Highgate Springs, Vt., where my brother Sidney, Dartmouth '09, has a cottage. Last summer FredMunkelt and Jessie spent a few hours with me at Lake Mansfield. They like Montpelier very much. Fred doesn't do much fishing but he certainly likes to eat trout. My son Laforrest H. '36 is now located in Burlington, Vt. No place like Vermont. (Editor's note - Tommie, you're absolutely right.)

"I am seriously considering a trip to Vero Beach this spring. Can't imagine anything more enjoyable than a few days with the old gang. Hope I can make it. Enclosed is an old postcard photo of Mike Stearns anfl myself taken at our first reunion. Best to all the boys - Long Tommie (one of the three Tommies)."

Larry Symmes reports on String Hale as follows:

"String Hale was in yesterday on his way to the Canary Islands by Fabre Line freight boat. He and his wife are going to the Canaries and then to Portugal, Spain and Africa to pick up a Mediterranean steamer that will take them to Greece, Turkey, the Near East and Egypt. String hopes to be back in time for the Bump reunion in June. He looks well and is making the most of his first period of retirement from the New Hamp- shire Forestry Department."

By the time you read this, Mike and AnnisSteams will have returned from Vero and be about to take a trip to Europe for a couple of months. Mike states that he will positively be back in time to Emcee the June gathering in Hanover. The Class should know that Elizabeth Safford (Mrs. Queech) sent a check for the MAGAZINE with an additional amount for the Class Fund. What a nice thing to do. We certainly appreciate her loyalty and interest. Webb Evans in his letter says, "The only complaint I have about living in California is the expense of a trip to New England. Had the pleasure of seeing Charlie Severance a short while ago. My activities are confined somewhat to indoor sports. If any of the boys would be interested in a game of scrabble on some rainy day, I'll be at their service."

Ralph and Mary Currier are again in Florida for the winter, which we hope indicates that all's well again on the Currier front. Governor Gregg has reappointed HarryRogers on the State Forestry and Recreation Commission. Art Rotch was in Hanover for four days in February. He "saw Jeremiah's pucksters win a hockey game, watched the ski crowd on Oak Hill with no desire to participate, and felt pretty ancient as I looked at the bulletin board at the Inn where the list of visitors included an antique '08, then jumped to '26 and then '52."

NEW ADDRESS DEPT. After June i, JoeHammond will be located at 4 Berwick Court, Sanford, Maine.

P.S. Your newsmonger and bride Ethel are scheduled to leave the last of March for a jaunt to the Coast, where we will certainly look in on all the Atwaters which the time and conditions will allow. So long for now.

STILL FRISKY: At their first reunion, the Class of '08 enjoyed the antics of Phillip Thompson and Malcolm Stearns.
