"Pop" Chesley to Larry Symmes: "Our class roster is shrinking, I realize I'm on the front line trench."
Harold Cogswell reported that he had been most of the time since Christmas visiting his brother in Lexington, Mass. He has been retired twice. The first was from General Motors in 1952 and the second from Chicago Technical College on December 31, 1964. He is in good health and hopes to stay that way.
Walter Furman reports to Larry S. "We were in California on a short pleasure trip in February. Gertrude and I had a small party on March 5 to celebrate our fiftieth - attended an Ivy Club dinner (in Princeton) to honor the winning football team. Blackman and the Dartmouth captain, Tom Clarke, both made excellent talks. Clarke is a great credit to the college. I don't think he could grasp the fact that a man from the class of 1908 could actually be walking around. The oldest alumnus present from each Ivy League college has to stand up. For the last three or four years I have represented the oldest class by far. This year Yale produced a 1910 man but I was able to knock him down."
Joe Hammond to your editor. "Since retiring in 1951 I have preached in 48 different churches, in 13 of which I served as interim pastor for periods ranging from a few weeks to eight months. I have preached well over 50% of the time."
Roger Hill to Larry S. on March 29: "Mrs Hill and I celebrated our 45th anniversary last Sunday at a large cocktail party given by our nephew.... I hope that I and many of those still available will have the 60th reunion somewhere convenient to most of us."
Stacey Irish reported that his daughter "Edy" has been in a hospital for back trouble but was found to be anemic. After blood transfusions and several weeks of rest she seems to have recovered.
Freddie Munkelt and Jessie spent their 50th wedding anniversary with their daughter and family in Dearborn, Mich., and had a wonderful time. They visited the Ford Plant, saw "The Sound of Music" (which they highly recommend), drove to Alma College where their granddaughter attends college and three church services at which their son-in-law preached.
Fred also reported that a building in Middlesex College, a new junior college in Stowe, Vt., will be named after Katherine S. Blakely, Joe Blakely's widow of Montpelier, Vt.
Larry and Dorothy Symmes are planning their usual trip to Europe and Africa. They flew on May 10 to London and Paris, then plan to get a car and, with one of their grandsons driving, tour West Germany. After returning to Paris they plan to fly to Algiers where another grandson is viceconsul. From there they expect to tour Morocco and the Barbary Coast, thence to Rome and from there fly to New York about June 13.
Larry and Helen Treadway returned to their comfortable country home in Williamstown, Mass., on April 19.
