March may come in like a lion, but Ini afraid the column this month will be as tragic and hangdog a lion as any Ides of March combined with Income Tax Day can be. News of '48 classmates over the past four weeks has been as scarce as polar bears on the equator. In addition, this scribe, in the process of moving his residence, managed to misplace or lose some of the notes he had succeeded in collecting. Thus, I apologize if the following is as full of solid news as a drunk is full of sense.

Still, there are some items that certainly are important and which merit our attention. Notable among them is the news of Stan Alger's wedding. Stan married the former Miss Alice Geraldine Souza on Saturday, February 6, in Osterville, Mass., on Cape Cod. I have no information on Alice or concerning where the couple is now living, but perhaps it's not unfair to hazard a guess that they are making their home in Hyannis. Stan was, the fast knew, working as an architect in the vicinity of that Cape town. Congratulations, Mr. an Mrs. Alger!

Scane Bowler in January was elected assistant secretary of the Hopkinson-Burridge-Pearse Co., an important general insurance agency located at 1900 Euclid Ave., in Cleveland. Scane makes his home in the nearby suburb of Gates Mills. Like the lightning bug that flew backwards into the fan, Scane, we re delighted — at your being made an officer of your firm.

New from the New England region informs us that Colin Stewart has taken off enough time from his studies at Harvard Architecture to coach an American women's ski team of championship calibre that will soon meet a Canadian team in an international competition. Colin hasn't lost his love for the wooden wings, nor, as a bachelor, has he failed to find a means of combining business with pleasure.

Hanover itself was visited by none other fhun Ed McLaughlin a few weeks ago. Ed staved overnight in the most famous and trarlition-laden hostel in town, the Hanover Inn He was apparently on the Plain during one of his trips away from his home in Glens Falls, do you ever run into Sam Hoopes or any other '48s, Ed, in your travels about the Falls? Seems to me that about ten years ago Ira"Bud" Pearce, Ed Gingrich, and myself were there one evening during that fabulous freshman summer of 1944.

Speaking of Hanover, it may not be out of place once again to mention, for the benefit of those of you who haven't seen it, that the Connecticut River is marked by a large new dam just below Hanover next to the road to West Leb. It's a structure of some note, and it certainly lends to Dartmouth's reputation as the best college in the world by damsite.

Talked on the phone a few nights ago to Dr Bill Jones, who is now going through internship at the Mercy Hospital here in Pittsburgh. Bill graduated from the University of Pittsburgh Medical School a year or so ago, is married, and has children. The family lives in a suburb of the Golden Triangle City. Bill was always quite a man on the boards while at Dartmouth, and, according to rumor, he met his wife at Sun Valley.

Here's hoping that you're getting your plans prepared for being in Hanover in June this year for some of those beautifully soft spring days on the campus. By this time you will have received your first announcement from Reunion Chairman Jim Schaefer concerning the weekend planned for the three-day period of the 18th through the 20th. This will be a chance to meet old buddies, to relive old times, to introduce your wives, and geneially really to enjoy yourselves. Those of you who haven't yet closely considered Reunion ought to start thinking about it. Jim will be sending further details soon.

Hope we'll have more news next month. In the meantime, save your money, but please don't forget to send the four dollars to Johnny Fenno if you have not already done so. Thanks a lot. See you in June.
