By the time this column is read, Reunion will be almost here. Jim Schaefer and his boys have things really cooking, and a good stew, complete with all the fixings, is in the pot. So, if you haven't already completed your plans for getting back to the Hanover Plain the weekend of June 18-20, better get hot! A goodly proportion of you have sent in your reservations and attendance notices, and it looks like we'll have a really representative '48 group on the campus for the event. Here's to the Fifth!

Speaking of Hanover, Eleazar's old hostelry and rum dispensorium, the Inn, has seen two '48s in recent weeks. Gene Rohloff was up from New York in late March for a couple of days, while Eddie Ouellette spent a night there in mid-April, during one of his jaunts between Concord and Berlin in the Granite State. According to recent reports, the Inn remains a flourishing institution and the goal of many a Green returnee.

An anonymous source by name of Reg Pierce '46 reports that Jim and Joan Randolph have a beautifully restored farm house with plenty of land in Millington, N.J. Jim is with McGraw-Hill on Food Topics, a trade book, and doing very well. He's also the Dartmouth squire - of the greater "ride-to-the-hounds" set out in New Jersey. They have two children, Pete, 6, and Kate, 3.

Reg also reports that Lou and Sue Pounds have redone an old house in Riverside, Conn., a beautiful job. Two children are already part of the family, and a third is expected soon. A winter vacation of two weeks was spent on the slopes in the Laurentians. Lou works for American Cyanamid in Stamford.

Phil Viereck, his wife and family are returning from the northern latitudes in Alaska to Vermont where Phil will teach the sixth grade at Bennington. He has spent the past four years in Alaska, teaching two years each in elementary schools at King's Island and Cordova. These communities were pretty much back in the hills, so Phil has undoubtedly had some interesting experiences.

Quite a few members of the class have changed their addresses of late. The information is meager in many cases, but here's what we have. Art Harris is a legal eagle in the law firm of Koizim & Harris in Norwalk, Conn., and he lives out in South Norwalk on Allview Ave. Vince Vayo is in I.B.M. electronic accounting machine sales in Baltimore. He hangs his hat at home on Glenwood Rd. I understand those I.B.M. machines can do anything, including talk. Right, Vince? PenttiSiiteri is earning his bread and board as a research chemist with Lederle Laboratories in Pearl River, N. Y., and makes his home in Hillsdale, N. J. Pete "Lucky Pierre" Owen moved down to Chicago from Wisconsin and is in management consultant work with Stevenson, Jordan & Harrison. He can sometimes be found at home at 54 E. Scott St., but please knock. George Michalek has moved out of Philly to the Penobscot Bldg. in Detroit where he's with N. W. Ayer & Son. TomCampbell works at 35 E. Wacker Drive in Chicago, not far from Pete Owen's office address at 205 W. Wacker. Abe Abrahamson, after seemingly working all over the nation for himself and Uncle Sam, has at last temporarily (?) settled down in Kansas City, Mo.

Dr. Ed Kelly is practicing in the Deep South at New Orleans, while his cohort, Dr. DwightBurley, is even further south in Miami, Fla. Another Kansas City resident, in addition to Abe, is Jack Fallon who is ass't comptroller with the Percy Kent Bag Co. on Armour Rd. Jerry King and his wife are back at Stanford; Autie Knight is in Beverly, Mass.; Dick Bennett is in nearby Waltham; Lorry Spademan and spouse are at St. Clair Shores, Mich., and John Cameron is in the Cleveland suburb of Euclid.

Dartmouth needs our loyal help once again. How about it? How about a few simoleons for your College and mine? The Alumni Fund keeps the little institution that means so much to us, its sons, on its feet. Please give, even if only a little. And, whatever happens, I hope the loyalty of Dartmouth men won't be outshone by Princetonians, some 68% of whom contributed to the Orange's most recent drive. For the first time it looks as though the Big Green is to drop behind in this respect. Only 67% of the sons of Eleazar reached into their pockets last year, and as of May 1 this year we were about 600 behind the 1953 mark. Think about it. 'Nuff said.

Was very pleasantly surprised the other day when Al McAllister stopped in at the office. He was here in Pittsburgh for an investment analysts' meeting sponsored by Gulf Oil. Al and his wife, Pat, live in West Hartford where he's with Phoenix Insurance. An addition to the family was reported by Al as being expected soon, right around Reunion time. He didn't know if Reunion would be on the agenda or not. Also reported by Al was the fact that Jack Tracy and wife are also waiting for the stork.

Don't forget to fill in your questionnaire for Bob Herrick, whose newsletters are always full of news and chuckles.

That's it for now. See you in Hanover.
