To open the final section of the Great Issues Course, Irwin Edman, the distinguished author and professor of philosophy at Columbia University, came to Dartmouth to lecture on April 12. We are privileged to print this month nearly the whole of his talk to the senior class. It is entitled The Creative Arts:Ultimate and Timeless Issues for Man, and begins on Page 15.
Two undergraduate activities of note are described in articles written by students. Donald R. Meltzer '54 writes about WDBS, the student radio station, in his article On theAir 16 Hours a Day (Page 19); and Robert K. Leopold '55, in Singing Ambassadors (Page 27), tells about the Glee Club's highly successful swing through the South and Southwest during spring vacation.
Frank Pemberton, director of the News Service, contributes another of his interesting features, this time on Thayer School's FireBug (Page 23). It is an account of the research on flame stability being conducted by Prof. James A. Browning '44, as part of Project Squid for the armed forces.
