WITH Hanover providing a grade-A spring weekend to match the occasion, 175 class and club officers gathered at the College on April 30 and May 1 for the annual meetings of these key alumni workers. Accompanied by approximately 100 wives, who raised total attendance to the highest in some years, the guests of the College for the Alumni Officers Weekend were class secretaries, treasurers and agents; club secretaries; class gift and bequest chairmen; and, for the second year, class presidents and executive committee chairmen.

Separate meetings were held by the seven different groups of officers, all of whom met jointly at a session in Baker Library on Saturday morning and at the annual banquet in l haver Hall that evening. Presiding at the group meetings were Richard M. Pearson '20, president of the Dartmouth Secretaries Association; Colin C. Stewart 3rd '23, president of the Dartmouth Treasurers Association; Marvin L. Frederick '15, president of the Dartmouth Class Agents Association; Gordon K. Wentworth '40, chairman of the Alumni Council Committee on Alumni Club Activities; Henry S. Embree '30, chairman of the Alumni Council Committee on Class Gifts; Addison L. Winship II '42, chairman of the Alumni Council Committee on Class Organization; and Ross Gamble '33h, executive secretary of the Bequest and Estate Planning Program. Mr. Pearson presided at the joint session of all officers and also was toastmaster at the concluding dinner.

President Dickey, who with Mrs. Dickey received the officers and their wives at the President's House Friday afternoon, gave the principal talk at the dinner meeting. The other speaker of the evening was Peter F. Geithner '54, president of the senior class. As an annual feature of the dinner, awards were made to the Class Secretary, Club Secretary, and Class Treasurer of the Year, selected by a committee of Sidney C. Hayward '26, Secretary of the College; Charlotte E. Ford, Alumni Recorder; and Charles E. Widmayer '30, editor of the ALUMNI MAGAZINE. The three men honored were Clarence G. McDavitt '00, class treasurer for more than fifty years; F. Williams Andres '29, class secretary for the 25th year; and Norman L. Simpson '44 of Syracuse, secretary of the Dartmouth Club of Central New York. Their citations appear with their class columns in this issue.

At the general meeting Saturday morning, speakers included Roger C. Wilde '21, chairman of the Alumni Fund Committee, who reported on the 1954 campaign to date; William H. McCarter '19, Director of Athletics, who talked of Dartmouth athletics over the past nineteen years, the period of his administration ending this month; and-Prof. Donald H. Morrison, Dean of the Faculty, whose topic was "Faculty Personnel and Objectives."

"The Great Art" by Frank D. Gilroy '50 was one of jour full-lengthstudent-written plays produced at Dartmouth in the years immediately after World War II, when veterans created a sort of golden age
