DAVID T. MCLAUGHLIN '54 of Grand Rapids, Mich., received the Barrett Cup at Wet Down ceremonies May 13. The football star, Phi Beta Kappa scholar and Undergraduate Council president was chosen by vote of the three upper classes and the faculty for this top undergraduate honor, given annually to the senior of all-around excellence who shows greatest promise of future influence and achievement.
¶ A second grant of $35,000 from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation has been awarded to the Tuck School of Business Administration to promote better teaching through research. The first grant has been used by the school for research leading to an exchange of information and ideas between the faculty and the business community. As a result of the research program begun last summer, Tuck School has published three booklets and will publish another this month. Three other studies are nearing completion.
¶ The 1954 summer session of the Graduate School of Credit and Financial Management will be held August 1-14 at luck School, with some 200 businessmen enrolled. This will be the fifth successive year that the Dartmouth business school has played host to the graduate course for credit and financial executives. Tuck School will also hold the first annual Vermont-New Hampshire School of Banking on September 7-10.
