Thank you one and all for the congratulations you have sent to me on my appointment as your new class secretary - for the next six years until our next reunion, the big 25th. This task will be a pleasure on my part if you will continue to tell me "WHAT'S NEW" in your lives.
Steve Dietz has joined Kenyon & Eckhardt advertising agency as a vice president and member of the Review Board. This is another one of the top advertising assignments held by '36ers in New York. Steve and Elizabeth, with children, Steve March, age 12, and Kristin, age 5, live at 655 Shore Acres Drive in Mamaroneck, N. Y. Steve had planned to bring the family to reunion but this new vice-presidency plus a bad automobile accident involving his wife and one child made the holiday impossible. Steve says all is well now on the home front.
At the Dartmouth Club in New York the other day I ran into Vic Sabary. I found out that Vic has a great deal of news to be reported. He has married, moved from Trenton to Princeton, bought a new house, set up a new business and earned a third stripe on his Navy uniform. Vic is now a full commander in the United States Naval Reserve. All this has happened since June 5 when Vic married Charan Page in Delray Beach, Fla. Charan is a graduate of the College of Illinois at Springfield, the University International at Geneva, Switzerland and the School of Interior Decorating in New York City. She is now decorating 49 Random Road, Princeton, N. J. Vic and Charan will have open house for '36ers any time, but especially after the Dartmouth Princeton this date on your calendars. Vic's new business is operating the Victory Supply Inc. where he'll "get it to you wholesale" if it's oranges, refrigerators and home appliances you want. This is in addition to Vic's continuing as sales manager for the Luzerne Rubber Co. in Trenton, N. J.
Another benedict in our class is HowlandPackard Rogers of New Britain, Conn. Howie married Barbara Ann Laurin, a graduate of Hunter College, Columbia University and Katherine Gibbs School in Boston. Their marriage took place at the Calvary Presbyterian Church in West Brighton, Staten Island, N. Y. Howie was kind to his classmates by bringing his lovely bride back to reunion.
It is good to have a word from the Midwest. It is from a distinguished lawyer in Milwaukee named Emil Hokanson. Emil married a girl named Emily, which made poetry and five children named Karl, Kris, Kristina, Karen and Kathleen, aged 13, 9, 7 and 2. (The twins Kris and Kristina are 9 years.) Hok wants to know how many classmates have five or more children with names beginning with a "K." That's a good question; let's hear from you. Hok shelters this nice family at 6344 N. Berkeley Blvd., Milwaukee, Wis., and earns When Genevieve and Art Funk were in Brumder Bldg., 135 W. WTells St., Milwaukee.
When Genevieve and Art Funk were in mountain. I hope the editors will be able to reprint this picture because it is very interesting and will amplify my description. You'll notice the empty bottle is on the adjoining table. With this picture Art wrote,
"Sending a message with a picture like this in June is a little out of date - but the thing got mislaid and now that we are packing to go home I have located it.
"This is me and wife, Genevieve, on the Hornberg near Saanenmöser in Switzerland. We spent a couple of weeks learning how to ski again. Found out an entirely new school of skiing has developed since Jobildunk days. We passed most of the time in Gstaad, where our boys, Larry (now 8) and Jimmy (5) are in school. There are some fine ski runs there - The Windspillen, the Eggli, and especially the Wasserngrat, which takes two lifts to reach the top.
"We have spent the last two months in Mallorca, writing a book on Franco-American relations for which I got a Guggenheim Grant last fall. We are leaving now for a trip around Spain, then back to Switzerland to pick up the children, then probably to Austria for a month. Best wishes."
Thank you, Art, for that pleasant glimpse of foreign travel.

Phyll and Cliff England brought the youngest person to reunion; he was George Glover England who was born May 26 — about three weeks old at the time and the center of admiration. In Joe Cunningham's "swan song" which has just come in the mail you can see that the final figures for the 1955 Alumni Fund have been published. We missed getting the Green Derby award for Pete Fitzherbert by one tenth of a point. Pete was so close to winning that one more man contributing would have put us on the top this year. That is all Pete needed, so you can see how important your individual contribution is regardless of the amount of money. Our class had 453 members contribute $14,775.70. This is an exceptionally good job and one we can all be proud of and from which Pete can retire with satisfaction. In March, you will recall, Pete was awarded the Harvey P. Hood Trophy for "the finest Class Agent work." ... Kirk Liggett has taken over as head Agent for the next five years.
By the time these notes are in your mailbox the Big Green team will be on the march. Those who saw Coach Blackman and his staff at the New York Statler are most enthusiastic about the new football era. Good luck to you in getting out to the games. I hope to see you at one, but if not, I'll be writing to you in November.
