PRESIDENT DICKEY will be on leave for nearly four months next semester in order to travel in Europe at the invitation of the Carnegie Corporation of New York. With Mrs. Dickey he will leave early in February and return the latter part of May, according to present plans. The trip will be the first extended vacation President Dickey has had since taking office ten years ago, and it will also be his first visit to Europe.

The Dickeys plan to visit universities and educational institutions in England, Denmark, Holland, Germany, Italy, Greece, and perhaps France. The Carnegie Corporation, which has made such trips possible for American educational leaders in recent years, is underwriting most of the cost of the trip.

During President Dickey's absence, the top administrative duties in the College will be assumed by Provost Donald H. Morrison, in charge of academic affairs, and Vice President and Treasurer John F. Meek '33, in charge of financial and administrative affairs.

At the fall meeting of the Dartmouth Board of Trustees, the invitation from the Carnegie Corporation was taken up and leave was readily voted by the Trustees, who had been urging Mr. Dickey to take a vacation from the heavy, year-round duties of the.presidency.
