1955 DARTMOUTH PARENTS COMMITTEE
For the fifth successive year Dartmouth Parents broke all previous records, both in the total amount contributed and in the number of parents contributing to the Dartmouth Alumni Fund. Our goal in money was $50,000 from 1,000 parents. $50,596 came in from 1,050 parents. Gifts averaged just over $48.00 per contributor. Of 3,900 parents of undergraduates and graduates, the participation was 27%, also a new high. The table below shows the five-year record of consistent progress of the Parents Campaign:
Contributors Gifts1951 359 $28,1841952 644 44,1201953 771 46,2791954 949 46,7841955 1050 50,596
It was a rewarding experience to have been Chairman of the Committee which made this gratifying record. My thirty-eight Committee members represented all parts of the country. They did a great job, and their interest and enthusiasm were most helpful.
I know all Dartmouth Parents are proud of the magnificent 1955 Alumni Fund, and of the role we have played in its success. I am sure that in the years ahead Dartmouth Parents will continue to work and contribute side by side with the alumni so that Dartmouth may continue to grow in service to our nation.
