Members of the Class of '36 are active in many community enterprises throughout the country, but the civic-mindedness of its members is uniquely demonstrated by the five '36ers who are serving on the eighteenmember board of the Washingtonian Hospital in Boston.

The Washingtonian Hospital, a pioneer institution in the field of drug and alcohol addiction was founded by a group of prominent Bostonians two years prior to the Civil War. It has a national and international reputation for its pioneer and progressive work in treatment, research and education in this specialized field.

Anthony G. Muello '36, prominent Boston attorney, is vice president of the Board of Directors. Richard B. Knight '36, a leading certified public accountant, another Board Member, is the spearhead of a curent effort to raise funds to acquire a new modern building to replace the present hospital structure, which has inadequate facilities to meet the demand for this type of hospitalization. Henry J. Mascarello '36, executive director of the United Prison Association of Massachusetts, has long been an active member of the Hospital Board, as well as a leader in social work in the field of rehabilitation of former prisoners. John S. Sullivan '36, another member of the Hospital Board, is Assistant Vice President of the National Shawmut Bank of Boston, and is prominent in New England banking circles. Dr. Robert E. Ingersoll '36, orthopedic surgeon, on the staff of Maiden and Boston City Hospitals, is the fifth member of the Class of 1936 on the Hospital Board.
