Taking the cue from Schnoz Durante, we've draped our bag of bones in a brand new fuchsia suit with turquoise chalk stripe, white buck wedgies, and topped off with a snap brim beret for the big fashion parade. This may set back Esquire 100,000 in circulation! Somewhat more conventionally attired were the recent folk seen at...
THE HITCHING POST Confirming rumors bandied about these parts comes a note from Andy McClary: "I was wed September 7 in St. Louis, the girl Jane Beaver, Vassar '50. We are now living in Ann Arbor." Andy's working on a Ph.D. in zoology there, following careers with the City Planning Commission in Chicago and shrimp trawling with Bill Lambert in the Florida Keys. Bill's presently with A. & P. in Hollidaysburg, Pa. Brer George McClary and Bert now have a son Steve, 6 months of age. George is in residency at the Mayo Clinic.
George Carpenter is now riveted with responsibility and a tax deduction. On December 27 ("It's just a coincidence that we were married before the first of the year," he says) Kathlyn Marie Koch accepted the Carp cognomen. Kathie is a native of Norfolk, Nebr. A wedding trip to Aspen ended when George ran out of ski wax and went back to work at WOW-TV in Omaha as an account exec.
On January 22 Al Harquail was married to Vivian Small of Fort Lauderdale, Fla. They're available for cocktail parties around Annapolis where Al's working on Middies' molars. Vivian is a grad of Wellesley.
A week later in Richmond, Va., Miss Eloise Virginia Nolde became the better half of J. Peter Johnson Jr. The bride's alma mammy is Valpariso University and she did graduate work at Clark U. in Worcester. Surprising to no one will be the info that after post-D studies at Oslo, young J. P. also put in hours at Clark.
WALKING THE LAST MILE... They must learn something besides teeth at Penn's Dental School for our other recent grad, Peirce Udall is slated for summer nuptials with Miss Beryl Nancy Lederle of Southold, N. Y. Peirce was a classmate of Al Harquail there (see above) and Beryl is a student at the School of Oral Hygiene now.
Another January announcement of intentions concerned Miss Marilyn Dorothy Fairman of Springfield and Bob Bums, who's with Jones and Laughlin there. Miss Fairman was graduated from the U. of Vermont and later received the diploma in physical therapy from Simmons.
Dave Hepworth is engaged to Miss Jane B. Evans of Narberth, Pa. She's a Colby Junior '49 and Cornell '52, while Dave got an MBA from Wharton in February. He's gone to toil for Arthur Anderson in Boston.
If the H-bomb didn't rock you, this item may, for it smacks of personal interest for your scribe, who is ecstatic to relate that Miss Betts Sherwood has consented to do the dishes for our dinners during the next century. Although she is from Pleasantville, a few miles from here, we met through the good offices of Gene Ulrich, at the New York D-Club you'll be glad to know. Betts graduated from Wooster College in Ohio and Katy Gibbs in N.Y.C. and we're trying to figure out how to get more influential with her employers, the Rockefeller Foundation. Taking the big step May 21. Join us!
RATTLE PRATTLE.. .The Battle of the Bottle has been won by Jay and MarionWilcox. They have two guys and three dolls as follows: Kathy born December 3, 1949; Debbie — April 2, 1951; Jimmy — April 29, 1952; Susan Lynn —June 18, 1953, and Tommy, the latest, arrived last October 20. Any competitors in the Class? By the way, Jay continues to be aces high with Prudential having been a member of that exclusive "Million Dollar Roundtable" for three years, and recently moved to Short Hills, N. J. Not too far away, he says, are the Bill Deys in Rumson, all three of them guzzling Canada Dry like mad. Down South Red Shaver's a group rep for Prudential, and in Rhode Island Sandy McCulloch has a new house for his wife and three small ones.
Big news in words and photo from NewcEldredge revealing that he and Sally have a little feller, born last July, name of John McCrullis. In the same snap is another '50 father of a '75, Phil Chase whose spouse Shorty presented him with an heir, Philip Crouse, in October. Newc managed to divert his attention from the peanut gallery long enough to add that Jim McCrum is back in the Mile High City working for a contemporary furniture store and that Brad Richard-son, papa of two lads, is selling securities for the Financial Industrial Fund. Must admit the mountain air looks good for young and younger alike!
Jim and Nancy Hotchkiss are proud parents of a daughter, Carolyn, born November 18. Similar elation is being displayed by Webband Mary Gault whose wee one, Victoria Ray, will celebrate birthdays on February 4.
SERVICE SCENERY ... It's been awhile since we had enough material to deal with Uncle's urchins, but in addition to the blue-and-gold oral experts Harquail and Udall getting notices for their amours, we have a few sawbones marking time until they can get into private practice. Phil Brown penned i report from the U.S.S. Fred C. Ainsworth out of San Fran. Seems he dispensed dramamine and APCs to ex-Navy Dick Frey and wife Jane when they booked passage back from Hawaii lately. Red hears that Pete Irving is practicing around Berkeley and DaveBull is in the judge advocate's department at the Presidio (California's answer to Buchenwald for you Easterners).
Address changes just received show Dr. JimStrickler cozily (?) ensconced aboard the U.S.S. Kenneth Whiting (AV-14) off the West Coast, and Lt. (jg) Gerry Sarno getting his mail at the U.S. Naval Communication Station, Navy #116, Box H2, c/o F.P.O., N.Y.C. Looks like the Azores or Port Lyautey to us. Ugh! And finally, in slightly lighter blue, Mac Grant is in the 58th Fighter Interceptor Squadron at Otis AFB, Mass.
INKADENTAL INTELLIGENTZ ... We are dusting off a few gems dug up in the Klondike as far back as last fall, so apologies for any changes which have intervened but eluded our notice.

We have a marine special agent in Newark, N. J., Reynold Marvin.
Furthest flung of the education field reps must be Matt Cooney at Victoria University, Wellington, New Zealand. There on a Rotary Scholarship (well done, old man!), Matt's just starting his semester - reversed seasons and all that. Along for sightseeing are his wife Jean and daughter Martha Louise.
Occasionally getting to see his family, Warren Cox is spending a lot of time with medical cases at Bellevue in NYC. ... Likewise is Bill Sickel, interning at Chester (Pa.) General after grabbing off the MD at Temple last June. Bill hopes to return there to take his residency in pathology later this year. Uptown from Warren is Tom Tomasi at Presbyterian Hospital.
A small sewing bee was held in Washington, D. C., sort of a celebration for Birthington's Washday, and Dick Echikson joined us in an attempt to break the lease Herb Ray and Stretch Pendelton have enjoyed for the past couple of years. The household also includes two '51s, Al Moses and Dick Mason, and one Maine-iac. Saturday night a keg was tapped and at least three more green and whites showed, Bob Larrigan '51, Dave Hitchcoek, and Dick Tillson. Dave is a legislative assistant for Alexander Smith, the ruggers, and in very good bari voice these days. Or was it the beer? Dick admitted to some sort of position with the State Department connected with the foreign service, but it was too foreign to us.
And around here we had a grand turnout of five for a blast at a local pub. Staunch advocates of this sort of thing turned out to be Bill and Judy Cross, Mai Hill, Rog Gay lord, and Andy Wilde. Maybe picnic season will prove more popular.
Best close up now before the blue pencil starts on us. Don't forget the Alumni Fund!
DENVER DADDIES: Phil Chase '50 (left)with son "Cru" and Newc Eldredge '50 withhis heir, John. Real Colorado mountains provide the outdoor backdrop.
