DR. KURTVON SCHUSCHNIGG, former Chancellor of Austria, will come to Hanover in May to participate in the three-day program marking the 25th anniversary of the founding of Germania, the Dartmouth German club. Dr. von Schuschnigg will give a lecture on May 19 and will also speak at the May 21 banquet concluding the festival. Another honored guest will be Karl Zuckmayer, Germany's foremost living dramatist, who will speak at the showing of his film, Der Froehliche Weinberg. Other events during Germania's silver anniversary observance will be a memorial service led by the Rev. Wilhelm Goegginger, a piano concert by Lydia Hoffmann-Behrendt and a program of German songs by the Dartmouth Glee Club, a Little Theatre presentation of Schiller's DerNeffe als Onkel by the Dartmouth Players, and two receptions in the Germania club room. Student officers of Germania and Prof. Stephan Schlossmacher, faculty adviser, are arranging the festival program.
Speakers for the alumni luncheon meetings on Commencement Weekend and during Reunion Week were announced last month by Sidney C. Hayward '26, Secretary o£ the College. At the Commencement luncheon, June 11, President Dickey will preside and speakers will be Charles F. Goodrich '05, on behalf of the 50-Year Class, and a 1955 class officer, to be announced after this month's senior elections. At the June 14 luncheon for the Classes of 1909, 1910 and 1911, Prof. Nathaniel G. Burleigh '11 will preside and President Dickey will be the speaker. At the luncheon and meeting on Saturday, June 18, Nelson A. Rockefeller 'go, president of the General Alumni Association, will preside and speakers will be President Dickey and Charles E. Griffith '15, chairman of the Tucker Foundation Fund Committee. Mr. Hayward will report on major alumni affairs at all three gatherings.
The 74th conference of the American Society of Sales Executives will be held in Hanover on May 4-6. President Dickey will extend Dartmouth's welcome; Dean Arthur R. Upgren of Tuck School will give the keynote address, "The Economic Outlook"; Prof. John C. Adams will speak on "The Nature of the Russian Threat"; and Dean Karl Hill and four students will take part in a panel discussion of "The Labor Picture for 1955" at Tuck School. The Society will hold most of its sessions at the Hanover Inn, conference headquarters.
President Dickey will be the guest of honor and main speaker at a dinner to be given by the Dartmouth Alumni Associa- tion of Westchester County at Rye, N. Y., on May 23. At other alumni gatherings during the month, John F. Meek '33, Treasurer and Vice President of the College, will address the Dartmouth Club of Richmond, Va., on May 17 and the Dartmouth Club of Baltimore on May 18.
Dean Upgren of Tuck will speak to the Worcester alumni on May 18, and the Providence alumni on May 19. Thomas E. O'Connell '50, executive assistant to the President, will also be a guest speaker at the Providence meeting.
