Despite our defeat at the hands of Penn constituting the latest news from Hanover at this writing, our weekly luncheons seem to have taken on new life and several new faces as the 1956-1957 school year gets under way.
Since our last report, another renovation in the Chicago Association social calendar has been conceived and executed in excellent fashion. On July 24 approximately ten stalwart foursomes teed-off at Itasca Country Club in the Association's first stag golf and dinner party in a number of years. Because of the success of this year's event, we contemplate making this an annual affair. This would fill the gap in Chicago's summer activities formerly occupied by the Annual Stag Picnic at Louie Leverone's farm, now sold and subdivided. Also, through Louie's generosity, a perennial trophy for the golf outing was established in his name, and was immediately captured by Chuck Solberg '50. Principal credit for the success of the outing is due to Bill Howell '49 and Si Morand '50.
Immediately at hand is our second Dartmouth Night black-tie dinner-dance at the Kenilwortli Club. This party, substituted last year for our usual downtown cocktail party, appears to be a sell-out again this year despite scheduling complications at the club which necessitated the party being held October 26, a week following the official Dartmouth Night.
Current plans for our Annual Dinner Meeting - Hanover Holiday program set the date and place as February 1, 1957 at the University Club of Chicago. We look forward to having Dr. Dickey, Dr. & Mrs. Stefansson, and Bob Blackman as our guests from Hanover for the occasion.
Other current news includes the forthcoming publication of a new Chicago Alumni Directory, the preparation of which has been the cause of much disruption and record searching, etc. Copies should be available before Christmas and will be distributed to everyone listed therein. Incidentally, I'd like to take this opportunity to urge everyone moving to Chicago to contact us immediately so we can add your name to our mailing list.
