Richard W. Kurts '56 of Mamaroneck, N. Y., is the winner of the competition for designing the center of campus snow statue for the Dartmouth Winter Carnival, February 3-4. Kurts' statue is a tall, graceful skier holding his arms wide with a ski in each hand. The skier will be go feet high with the skis towering an additional 15 feet making this statue one of the tallest seen on the campus. This year's statue recalls the famous Eleazar Wheelock statue by Dick Brooks '39 which was 36 feet high, not counting the base, and used a flour barrel as a beer mug.
