The first annual dinner-dance on the South Shore, held on March 2, was attended by 156 Dartmouth couples and guests. No doubt about it, it was all that the hard-working dance committee had hoped for and more. Dance committee chairman Bob Reed '49 succeeded in putting together an affair that had everything - good music, room to dance, attractive decorations, good food - all at a fair price, turning in a profit to boot. Jack Douglass '41 called the signals on ticket sales. As the attendance proves, Jack did a remarkable job. Enthusiastic assistance in ticket sales, decorations and general planning was provided by Walt Friend '49, who headed the decoration committee, and by Bob Rhodes '25, Ethan Hitchcock '27, Dick Allen '32, TedOlsen '36, Johnny Clayton '51, Cliff Fuller '42, Jerry Tosi '38, Dong Donahue '45 (Dotty Donahue made up a batch of excellent posters), Bob Rencurrel '49, Nev Chamberlain '50, Phil Conothan '35, and John Handrahan '37.
When heads have cleared from the festivities, the Club will hold a business meeting - probably before early summer time - for the purpose of electing officers and formation of committees to get things under way for this summer and next year. We are going to need all the help we can get, and ask that persons wishing to nominate officers or willing to volunteer for committee work get in touch with the Club Secretary.
