Last month we featured new vice presidents; this month it's bank directors. Robert B. Atkinson was elected trustee of the Hamden Savings Bank. Boone, a lawyer, has been an assessor in Longmeadow, Mass., is president and trustee of Wesson Memorial Hospital, and is on the executive committee of the Eastern States Exposition in Spring- field. ... Henry Townshend becomes the sixth member of his family in four generations to serve as director of the Union and New Haven Trust Co. ... Fred Stockwell, active in a legion of business and civic functions, was elected to the Board of the Winchester Trust Co. ... On the operating side Harvey Daniels was elected vice president of the First National Bank of Minneapolis. A financial analyst, Harvey is a member of the Corporate Fiduciary Association of Minnesota, former director and vice president of the national Federation of Financial Analysts Societies, and former president of the Twin City Society of Security Analysts. That's quite an achievement for a fellow born in Kuling, China, educated at the American School in Tokyo, and Deerfield with later military service as a Captain of Military Intelligence in the Pacific. My records show that Carol and he have three children. ... With all these bankers on board we less substantial classmates have an excellent source of funds.

Jim Hooker reports in from Pittsburgh, where the Hookers have had no major changes other than going from six rooms to nine to accommodate the increasing activities of three daughters who seem to require the extra room as they get older. Jim is Procter and Gamble's Food Department Territorial Manager in Pittsburgh for West Virginia, a few counties in Ohio, and Western Pennsylvania. Jim reminds us that P&G makes items other than soap, as though we don't all watch TV.
Man on the move is Kelly Coffin, erstwhile Newsletter editor who joined Aetna Life last July as superintendent of agencies, moved east to boot, and now has been made director of agencies supervising the southeastern region in Atlanta. That's sort of going around the horn, in reverse. Sounds like a good promotion. From experience I know the Coffins will like living in Atlanta, a fabulous city.
Pennsalt Chemicals Corporation has named Smed Ward New York District Manager for its Isotron department. Smed has been previously working the New York territory and earlier Ohio as a sales representative. Smed is a commander in the Naval Reserve with duty in the South Pacific during World War II and Korea.
Dick Kimmel proves himself a tough man to fence in (Cyclone, that is) by assuming the presidency of American Hair and Felt Co., Chicago, manufacturer of rug padding (Ozite) and supplier of felt and hair products to the automotive industry among many others. My agent tells me this is a company with considerable growth potential and the experts are counting on The Camel to put it out in front. Dick and his family are now living in Waukegan, Ill. I called him at his Merchandise Mart office several weeks ago to challenge him to a 440 around Lake Michigan; he beat me one night many years ago around the Memorial Field track and I've been itching for a re-run ever since. ... Belated congratulations to Bill Brandt, new president of Hickok-Pioneer Company of California. Bill rose through the ranks of Hickok Manufacturing Company, Rochester, to Vice President - Sales and Director and in this new division will headquarter in Los Angeles. The Brandts and their five children probably have moved west from Rochester by this writing.
