The varsity golf team under Coach Tommy Keane wound up its 1956 season this past weekend by downing Harvard 4-3 for a fine season record of fifteen wins and only four defeats. This year the Indians lacked any. real top-flight players as evidenced by their eighth-place showing in the Easterns, with only Harvey Bloom qualifying for the final rounds of play, but Dartmouth's balance throughout the squad led to the strong team record.

Three of Dartmouth's losses came during the spring trip, with only a 5-2 setback by a strong Williams team marring the action during the past five weeks.

Captain Fred Oman, the only senior on the team, was the number one player for the Indians and his steady game won him all his matches except four. Harvey Bloom played number two and showed steady improvement throughout the season. Rod Frates, Bruce McDonald, John Armstrong, Tom Tally, Chap Jacobus, Ren Guyer and Jim Geier followed in order.

All except Captain Oman return next year. With this and a good freshman team coming up, it appears that Dartmouth will continue to field a strong golf team for some years.
