In one of the greatest upsets in Eastern football this fall, Dartmouth, with five straight losses, whipped a hitherto undefeated Yale team 32-0 before a stunned gathering of 38,000 at the Yale Bowl. Furthermore, they won against a Yale team which at that time was ranked first in the nation on total defense and against which five previous opponents had been able to score only three times. It was probably the high spot of the season for Dartmouth and certainly one of the greatest triumphs for any Dartmouth team in recent years.

The Big Green scored the first time it got the ball, going 66 yards in eight plays. The key play in this drive was a 31-yard pass from Beagle to Turner which brought the ball to the Yale nine, and two plays later Beagle hit McLaughlin in the end zone. Yale fought back but the Bulldog offense couldn't seem to get rolling and in the second period a costly Yale fumble on their own 19-yard line gave Dartmouth another chance to score. The Indians marched to a first down on the Yale nine and then Beagle hit Turner in the flat and Turner raced over to give the Indians a two touchdown lead.

In the third period another Yale fumble on their own 16 (Yale fumbled seven times during the afternoon, lost six) gave Dartmouth the ball and Beagle passed to McLaughlin for a third score. By this time Beagle, who started passing effectively in the Harvard game, had found himself and a few minutes later he sparked a 65-yard march for the fourth TD. It took only six plays to score with Beagle tossing a 29yard pass to McLaughlin and then heaving a 21-yard touchdown pass to Thielscher. Later in the fourth period Beagle passed to Nicolette for the final score and wound up completing eight out of 15 passes for 166 yards and four touchdowns, one of the greatest passing exhibitions seen in the Yale Bowl for some time.
