The Dartmouth-Brown football game on October 13 was a perfect day for Rhode Island alumni, from the standpoint of the weather, and the outcome of the game. The Association was pleasantly surprised by the 600-odd alumni and friends who visited the Dartmouth Tent prior to the game. We hope to make this a biennial event whenever the Indians visit Providence.
About 30 people attended the October luncheon at the University Club, and heard a very interesting talk by Milt Piepul, former Dartmouth and present Brown backfield coach. Milt told of the extensive liaison between the members of the Ivy League regarding recruiting of football players and scholarship aid for them. He also gave a very accurate forecast of the season's outcome for the various teams.
On November 29 at an evening cocktaildinner meeting at the University Club, Association members heard Tom O'Connell, assistant to President Dickey, give a most interesting talk on the long range plans of the College, both in terms of physical plant and academic goals. The Rhode Island Association has benefited greatly from these interesting speakers, and future meetings are expected to be equally interesting and well attended.
