The long awaited win over Pennsylvania turned our sixth annual Tea Dance into a real victory dance. More than 200 couples toasted Coach Blackman and the whole Dartmouth team for marking the occasion of our scholarship fund raising project with their well-deserved win over what was approaching a jinx. The dance was held at The Hunt Club,' in nearby Gates Mills, Ohio on October sth and assumed heroic proportions under the aegis of Dick Lezius '47, who ran this increasingly popular event in the grand manner. He was ably assisted by Bob Schmitz '49, for the club and by an active women's committee headed by Mrs. David Davenport ('40) and Mrs. Dave Vanderhoof ('45) who was in charge of the decorations. The trend of scores of other Ivy schools sending large groups of their alumni to this function was intensified this year, and the Dartmouth men again were outstanding hosts. Some even went so far as to demand to know our date for the dance next year so they could make plans to attend.
The schools committee under the tireless direction of Warren Crumbine '37, and Al Hutton '41, is swinging into high gear as they tour the many high schools in the area to find the best boys for future classes at Dartmouth. They are getting ready for several College Nights and can be expected to give the best possible picture of the whole Hanover scene. They would appreciate any alumni giving them the names of any likely candidates so that they can bring their information to as many boys as possible. It is possible to miss some good boys even for this long-working and dedicated group of alumni, so whatever help we can give them will be of benefit to many hands.
Details for our annual Christmas Luncheon on December 28 will be forthcoming in due time, but be sure to paste the date in (your hat now.
