THE reconstituted Board of Overseers of the Thayer School of Engineering, enlarged from four to ten members, met for the first time on October 12. New members are J. Hartness Beardsley '37, executive vice president of Bryant Chucking Grinder Co., Springfield, Vt.; Dr. Gordon S. Brown, head of the electrical engineering department at M.I.T.; Dartmouth Trustee Thomas B. Curtis '32, U. S. Congressman from Missouri; Frederic A. Davidson '14 of New Rochelle, N. Y., president of Refined, Syrup and Sugars, Inc.; Dr. Jess H. Davis, president of Stevens Institute of Technology; and John C. Woodhouse 'si of Wilmington, Del., chemist with I. E. du Pont de Nemours Co. Continuing members from the former Board of Overseers are Herbert F. Darling '26 of Eggertsville, N. Y., and Henry N. Muller Jr. '35 of Hamilton, Ontario. President Dickey is an ex officio member and Prof. Donald H. Morrison, Provost of the College, is ex officio chairman.

The Dartmouth College Concert Series will open November 19 with Leontyne Price, soprano. The series will include four other concerts: December is, I Solisti di Zagreb, a string ensemble; February 13, the Obernkirchern Children's Choir; March 6, the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra with Thor Johnson, conductor; and April 24, Rudolph Firkusny, pianist.

Because of the prolonged summer drought, Hanover faces a possible serious water shortage now that College is in session. A campaign to conserve water is in full swing throughout the College and town, with reminder signs posted in all buildings. "Nip that drip" and "Half that bath" are two of the battle cries created by Assistant Secretary of the College Robert L. Allen '45.
