Bob, there has been a recent decline and recent rise in the two most important organizations in your town - respectively, the Cleveland Indians and the Dartmouth Indians. These two clubs get along well together but in their attempts for supremacy only one can be on top. Our only fear now is that those second division fellows are going to see the green light shining on your headquarters and perhaps offer you a bonus to sign with them. We are frankly attempting to ward off your becoming a "bonus baby" by declaring you Club Secretary of the Year.
You have done more than keep the books and tabs on your club members - you have kept all of us in Hanover fully posted on Dartmouth activity to the extent that the Cleveland Plain Dealer has replaced a well-known undergraduate publication as first priority reading in Hanover. You are the darling of our Alumni Records Office where several young ladies hold you in such esteem that we would call out Federal troops before turning you loose among them.
The full and interesting program in Cleveland - some twelve annual all-star events - takes a lot of doing. Your enthusiasm for the newest one, the scholarship fund, coupled with splendid behindthe-scenes work on all the others is truly an outstanding achievement.
We wish your competitors at the stadium better luck in the future knowing full well that what they really need is what all Dartmouth men in Cleveland already have. Congratulations, Bob.
