A TWO-YEAR full tuition scholarship in memory of the late William Harnest Callihan '34 has been established at Dartmouth by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tressler W. Callihan of Newton Center, Mass. The scholarship will first be awarded to a member of the freshman class entering college next September.
Callihan, a brother of John T. Callihan '42, died suddenly last June in Greensboro, N. C., where he had been an insurance executive. He attended both Newton High School and Phillips Exeter Academy, and his parents have asked that in awarding the scholarship the College give preference to students from those two schools.
As a Dartmouth undergraduate, Callihan was active in the French Club and was interested in international relations. During junior year he studied in France at the University of Touraine and at the Sorbonne. He was married in 1941 to the former Margaret Perkins of Greensboro, who survives him with his parents and brother.
