Only one match has been played by the Dartmouth varsity squash team since last month when the record read two victories and one defeat. This early January match was a closely contested one against Princeton, with the Big Green losing by a 5-4 margin.
Three sophomores and a senior were victors against Princeton, with Dick Hoehn, son of Coach Red Hoehn, winning easily in the number one spot, while sophomore John Horan, ranked fourth, Captain Aaron Daniels, playing number seven, and Jack McDonough, ranked eighth, were the other Dartmouth victors.
The only change in the team since last month has been the moving up of Dan Pierson to the second place with Dick Shephard going back to third. John Ley in fifth place, Tony Jenks in sixth, and Butch Waid and John Porter, who battle McDonough for the number eight spot, round out the squad.
Six of the Dartmouth team were in action during the Christmas vacation, competing at the Intercollegiate Squash Tournament sponsored by the University Club in New York. Dick Hoehn got through to the quarter finals in a strong showing, while John Horan was dropped in the third round of play. Like most teams, the Big Green squash squad plays most of its matches during the next six weeks and is expected to break about even.
