This column is not especially interested in mediocre publications, elections and other news to a degree other than a mere mention unless we feel they are of real interest to Alumni. When a product such as the 1930 Senior Aegis appears, we feel some comment necessary. There are thousands of year books printed each spring and nearly all run to the same type, the cheaper volumes of course falling to the smaller colleges. The Dartmouth 1930 Aegis we place in a field all by itself. Its editors started the precedent of returning all receipts from the book, making nothing for themselves. This in itself is unusual in college circles and highly commendable. The Aegis, carrying the theme of the Viking hero throughout, is a masterpiece of beauty and much as we hate superlatives we would gladly devote columns in its praise. A prominent engraver who handled over fifty college annuals this year and hundreds in the past went into raptures when we showed him this romance of the Vikings. To the Aegis board we offer our heartiest congratulations. To the Alumni we recommend that they secure a copy if they wish a beautiful picture of the Dartmouth of today.
