Regretfully we report the death of two more of our classmates; Bert Wood, who died in Tucson, Ariz., after a long illness, and Walton Parker, who died suddenly while on a trip in Switzerland. More details in the In Memoriam section.
Back in November visited Bino Knight at the New England Deaconess Hospital where he had been undergoing surgery. He was up and around at that time and said he expected to be home shortly, "Not as good as a 1958 model but still able to operate smoothly." A note from Ducky Drake enclosed a clipping about Gail Gardner who was hoping to retire as Postmaster of Prescott but whose successor had not been named. Ducky goes on to say "a little older, more wrinkles, about same amount of hair, and probably more of a grouch." He can't be quite that bad as long as his sense of humor is still functioning. Dutch Burnham has retired after many years with Pittsburgh Plate Glass Co. He still lives at 414 Beaver Road, Edgeworth, Sewickley, Pittsburgh, but apparently has an office at 1707 Oliver Bldg., in downtown Pittsburgh.
The Westcotts are back at the old stand at 225½ 29th St., West Palm Beach, Fla. Fred Davidson is on the Board of Overseers of the Thayer School and Fred, Jr. '4O is a member of the Board of Governors of the New Rochelle Hospital Association.
From various notes to Treasurer Batchelder we learn that Jim Crowell has been abroad on a trip. Win Snow is not taking up golf yet —he is panning for gold! Wonder does he pack a burro? Bob Hopkins apparently is just beginning to breathe normally after the Yale game - who isn't! Harold Brown en- thuses over the climate at Vero Beach, Fla. Jack Dellinger spent some time at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minn., back in September while Dr. Walt Walters '17 was in Hanover receiving a citation at the Convocation. In spite of this, Jack apparently was in good hands as he is back in Tyler, Texas, and invites "all who have reached the age of 65 to drop in." That should include all of the Class!
The snowflakes were so thick at Princeton that it was impossible to see who was there, so we can not give you any first-hand information about those who braved the storm. Strangely enough the snow stopped almost at the moment the final whistle blew and we found the roads dry, less than 30 miles outside of Princeton. The team did very well considering the conditions and this correspondent (no expert!) does not think the score gives a true picture of the difference between the teams. Luke Giles is back in Florida at 5110 11th Ave., Bradenton. Says it's wonderful but a long way from Ivy football.
Any of you who will be in New York, or can plan to be there, on February 5, take note of the very special alumni dinner to be held on that date. The occasion will honor President-Emeritus Hopkins on his Both birthday. You and your wives will be most welcome. The ALUMNI MAGAZINE will feature the details.
