After sweeping to six straight victories before Christmas vacation, the Big Green hockey team suffered two losses in the Holiday Tournament at Boston, then returned to Hanover to split even in two Ivy League contests, for an overall record to date of eight wins and three losses.

At the Christmas Tourney in Boston the Big Green skaters were edged by Boston College 4-2 and Boston University 5-2 before they regained form and stopped a strong Northeastern team, 2-1. Then the Indians posted their initial Ivy victory by defeating Yale in Hanover, 5-2, only to lose to Princeton by a close 3-2 score in the most recent contest.

As it turned out the Princeton game was lost by the margin of one disputed goal. This was a goal which the Tigers scored just as the buzzer sounded ending the first period. Dartmouth protested that the goal had been scored after the buzzer sounded but the officials allowed the goal. The Tigers scored two more and led 3-0 with but six minutes to play. Then defenseman Don Thomas took a pass from Captain Dave Chapin right in front of the nets to tally, and minutes later wing Rod Anderson scored on an-assist from defenseman Russ Ingersoll. The Big Green was still fighting back when the final buzzer sounded.

Scoring honors are fairly well divided between the first two teams with Rod Anderson currently leading with nine goals and four assists for 13 points, while John Lannigan has one goal and eleven assists for twelve points. Captain Dave Chapin has six goals and three assists for nine points.

With six of the twelve remaining games against Ivy opponents, the Big Green skaters have their work cut out for them. But Coach Eddie Jeremiah likes the way his team has shaped up so far and is optimistic that the present season will be the best of any in recent years.
