On a cold, gray December afternoon the four horses rode again. Unlike their Irish counterparts these four proved to be no scourge to their fighting opposition and performed formed like the four tired old men they are, as their young and vigorous opponents trampled them under to an inglorious 18-0 defeat on the muddy, wintry gridiron of Duquesne Heights. Their names, once glorious, but now tarnished by the aging processes of time: Armstrong '49, Lynch '52, Lynch '54 and McGreevey '54. How are the mighty fallen? Can this unfortunate exhibition be explained by the inadequacy of their teammates (from other schools) who showed so plainly their need of the fine tempering process they might have received on the playing fields of Hanover? But, nay, we should not, we must not, diminish the glory which is rightfully to be bestowed upon the noble opposition: Melville '50, Queenan '52, Parker '52 and Melville '55, whose titanic efforts in the absence of their lion-hearted?? star, Carll Tracy '49, overcame with ease the overwhelming odds they faced in combating the triple-threat, 250- pound, fleet (rhymes with "cat")-footed, former all-Patagonian end, Dale Armstrong, and his hard running teammates. But, win or lose, the exercise was wonderful.

Business Report: Sloan's Liniment, Inc., report that 4th quarter sales reached an all time high in 1957 when the company, for the first time in its history, was unable to supply an unexpected December demand from the Pittsburgh area.

Social Report: Kudoes to Stewart Steffey '41, an ex-member of our club who is presently gracing the Philadelphia Chapter by his presence there, for his magnificent hospitality toward the Armstrongs, Coombs, Lynchs and Tracys over the Princeton weekend. Next fall the entire Club of Western Pennsylvania is expecting to take in that magnificent event and we are certainly looking forward to seeing you, Stew Steffey, and your lovely family once again.
