Upon his return to Hanover from the New York dinner honoring him, President Emeritus Hopkins found literally hundreds of telegrams, letters and messages of felicitation from Dartmouth alumni and friends who could not attend the dinner and yet wished to express to him their affection and good wishes.
Mr. Hopkins, faced with the impossible task of making personal and individual acknowledgment of each message, has asked the ALUMNI MAGAZINE to say, for him, how much these greetings and good wishes mean to him and how sincerely he wishes it were possible to express his appreciation directly to each and every one who was kind enough to remember him.
