Ralph Sexton sent me a notice of the death of Mrs. Hayward Rolfe, February 17. The Class sends its sympathy and respects to Hayward.
Tom and Ruth Streeter, Carl and Marion Woods, Herbie Callman and Beck Johnson represented the Class at the Hopkins Dinner, while King Woodbridge and Johnnie Watson sat on the dais with the V.I.P.s present. We all enjoyed a cocktail party prior to the dinner. It was good to see Johnnie and hear his jolly laugh. It was a wonderful party and a grand tribute to a great Dartmouth President - 1904 salutes "Hoppie."
Carl and Marion! Woods are on a trip to the Virgin Islands. A card received states "enjoying the trip immensely."
Word from Charlie Davis of Springfield says Charles Weston is ill in the Brimfield Nursing Home in Brimfield, Mass. Send Charlie a card.
Quite an academic discussion has been started by one Robbie, as to the proper place for holding our next pre-Harvard game gathering. Some question the desirability of holding these gatherings in such proper Bostonian clubs as the Union Club. Ike Charron seems to have expressed the sentiments of many when he says he has experienced a feeling of awe and awkwardness in such luxurious retreats, due to the refined atmosphere, which is aptly described by the late JusticO. W. Holmes as "Cloistered Aloofness."
Valentine cards from the Mannings and Uniacs - Thanks friends.
Cards from the Fletchers who are traveling in Mexico and thoroughly enjoying their trip.
No news from the Kennebec or the Androscoggin region - The boys must be buried in six feet of snow. Somehow they always show up in the spring, however.
Recently had a telephone chat with Al Terrien. He is busy with his law practice in Nashua and in good health.
The Gormly family send letters expressing deep appreciation for the sympathy and respect sent by the Class in the passing of our classmate "Gorm." He passed away six days before their 50th wedding anniversary.
Poem from Robbie — on Beck's 76th birthday:
Here's to a lad who's seventy-six, Still full of verve, still full of tricks, I think he'll reach a hundred and seven Before he's ready to go to Heaven.
So give a cheer and fill the cup Next time we meet we'll whoop 'er up And dance a jig to My Irene, Beck's long-time favorite Village Queen!
