Another team to watch this spring will be Coach Red Hoehn's varsity tennis squad. The Indians played six games on their vacation junket, defeating The Citadel, 6-0, in the opener; losing two games to a top-rated Miami by 9-0 scores; then upsetting a strong Rollins team, 7-2, before losing to them the following day, 8-1; and winding up by thumping the University of Florida, 8-1.
Moving into the regular schedule, Coach Hoehn's team has a good chance to win them all, with Harvard and Yale regarded as the teams to stop. Playing number one for Dartmouth is Red's son, Dick, one of the top-seeded players in collegiate circles today. Bill McLung, another veteran, and Captain Bill Bullen join Hoehn to give the Indians three stand-out players. Currently ranked fourth is Jack McDonough, another letterman, who is followed by Jack Herrick, Nick Fenney, Don Miller and Phil Langley.
This is Dartmouth's strongest tennis team of recent years and it should be an interesting season on the courts.
