The freshman football team hit rougher going in late October and early November as it bowed to Harvard, 18-6, and was edged by Yale, 13-12, before winning over New Hampshire. The season record was two wins against three defeats. Top quarterback was Bill King, backed up by John Patterson. Mark Rutkosky, the most promising quarterback, gave up freshman football to concentrate on his studies. Ray Cook, John Krumme, Ralph Harlbrick and Lee Bateman were the top halfbacks, with Ernie Torres and Bill Wellstead at full-back. In the line the starting ends were Roger Adleman and Mike Nyquist, with Captain George Hellick, Bill Hubbard and Frank Palmer at tackle. Jerry Razska and Bill Blumenschein were starting guards, and Vaughn Skinner was at center. Despite a mediocre record, there are at least a dozen good varsity candidates on the squad.

The freshman soccer team edged New Hampton, 2-1, and defeated St. Paul's School, 5-1, in recent action, to get on the winning side with a 4-3 season record. Dave Smoyer, Brad Denny, John King, Bob Maloney, Steve Chase and Kirk Vernon were the most consistent players during the fall and some help is expected for the varsity next year from this group. The freshman cross-country team closed its season by losing a close race to the Mt. Hermon School, New England prep school champions, by a 23-28 score. The loss gave the freshman harriers a 2-2 record for the season as they had earlier defeated Boston University, 25-33. Captain Roy Benson, Charlie Berg, Steve Clearly, Dick Godfrey, Chris Wiedenmayer, Tim Drescher and Jim Bottger were all team members who ran consistently.
