HANOVER got its September hurricane scare out of the way early this year (Edna in 1954 was the last real blow) and the College was able to concentrate on its own doings as students and faculty reassembled for the launching of Dartmouth's 192 nd academic year. The exercises formally opening the year took place on Monday morning, September 26, a date somewhat later than usual. The Dartmouth football team had, in fact, already played its first home game on Saturday, the 24th, but since another large freshman class was in town and most upperclassmen were here for registration that day, the student cheering section was neither small nor inhibited by thoughts of college work that ought to be done.
