Dartmouth fans attending the DartmouthYale football game at the Yale Bowl this year were invited to congregate at the large "Dartmouth Tent" made available by the Dartmouth Club of New Haven. The tent served as headquarters for Dartmouth activities, various class activities, and as a focal point for many who were meeting at the game.
This was our first experience at playing host to Dartmouth folks and their friends. While we feel that it was generally successful and that we learned a great deal, we feel sure that our hospitality will improve with each of the years.
The Enrollment Program here in New Haven was off to a flying start with the appearance of Edward T. Chamberlain Jr. '36, Director of Admissions of the College, on December 2, at the Hopkins Grammar School. Jack Crawford Jr. '30 was the Chairman of this event and did an outstanding job on the arrangements. Of the 132 people attending, there were about sixty students, twenty alumni, with the balance made up of fathers and guidance people from the many secondary schools in our area.
Eddie Chamberlain discussed admittance to the College and answered many questions. As usual, his presentation was straight from the shoulder and was enthusiastically received by his audience. The finale for the evening was the movie, "Dartmouth Visited."
On January 28 for the second successive year the Dartmouth Club of New Haven sponsored John Jay with his latest film titled "Mountain Magic," for the benefit of our Scholarship Fund. The proceeds from this benefit function were immediately loaned to the College Educational Association which is a non-profit corporation organized in 1896 for the purpose of assisting needy students preparing for and pursuing courses of study at Dartmouth College. Loans are made by this association to students approved by the Scholarship and Loan Committee of the College.
As in the past, our monthly luncheons are being held on the first Thursday of every month at the Hof-Brau Haus Restaurant in the center of New Haven. If any Dartmouth men are in the area we would heartily welcome them to any of these luncheon meetings, and sincerely hope that they will look us up.
