Despite the proximity to the Christmas Season, our Club held two highly successful December events. On the 3rd President Dickey spoke at a luncheon ably engineered by Marvin Braverman '29. The President pointed to a number of problems facing the academic world today. He particularly stressed the difficulty teachers are having to keep pace with the ever-increasing rate mankind is acquiring knowledge. No doubt each of us is sharing this difficulty, regardless of his field of endeavor.
On December 29, we invited the undergrads, prospective undergrads and their fathers to join us for lunch. About 140 attended this annual affair at which students were asked to tell us something of current Hanover doings. Rog Parkinson '63 gave a freshman's view of the "Trimester" system, as he referred to it. Apparently, it is being received with favor, especially since exams are completed just prior to each vacation period. Ted Mascott '62, who is active with the college radio station, gave a clever and amusing round-up of the Hanover scene. We were proud to have these young men present a picture of Dartmouth to our prospective candidates for admission and their dads.
