It was decided to open the season on November 29, 1961 at 6:30 p.m. at the Wellesley Country Club with the customary Wheelock Tavern. The program is to be a panel followed by an open discussion on the subject "Boston," the core city or the conflicts in living between the city and the suburbs. On the panel will be Lieutenant Governor of Massachusetts, Edward McLaughlin '42; Assistant Professor of Government at Dartmouth, Franklin Smallwood'51; and a senior fellow currently studying transportation. The meeting is to be mixed.
The club is sponsoring a bus to and from Hanover on November 18 for the fall houseparty Cornell game.
The following towns are serviced by the Charles River Club: Cochituate, Dedham, Dover, Framingham, Maynard, Med field, Natick, Needham, Newton, Norwood, Sherbourne, Sudbury, Walpole, Wayland, Weston, Westwood, Wellesley.
Notwithstanding the foregoing, any interested alumni who are in the Charles River area on November 29 would be most welcome. Call the Secretary at Ce 5-0185 for reservations.
