Paul Synnott '24 (r), who has sold $30,000,000 worth of space since he joined the "Time" advertising staff in 1926, is shown receiving a congratulatory handshake from Ad Director John McLatchie at a surprise luncheon marking his 35th year with the weekly newsmagazine. McLatchie is the seventh advertising director Synnott has served with during the 35 years.

Synnott has the longest continuous career yet with his department. In addition to his record sales total, he brought in Time's first color ad (Remington Rand) in 1927. Before joining the weekly in 1926 he worked for Condé Nast and the Miami Daily News and also had experience in one of the most turbulent selling ventures of all time - the Florida real estate boom. Synnott looks forward to extending his Time career to an even forty years —"if I can survive five more."

He and his family live at 601 Westover Road, Stamford, Conn.
