Chairman of the Year
June 1961

Pete Fitzherbert '36 was honored as Class Chairman of the Year at the Dartmouth class officers' annual meeting in Hanover on May 5. He was cited as follows:

Your own class secretary back in 1949 summed up your devotion to your class and your College. At that time, when you were taking on a new job, he reassured the class that, "new job or no, Pete still travels the northern New England territory - and still covers Dartmouth in general and '36 in particular from Boston to Maine." This statement has been true for 25 years.

The class of 1936 has achieved great success in all activities and your leadership as chairman of the class since 1956 has been a major factor in these achievements. For a number of years earlier, you served as class agent with equal success, and in 1954, you captured the Harvey P. Hood Trophy for Alumni Fund distinction.

All indications say that your 25th Reunion, to be held this June, will 'be a record-breaker in every respect. Nineteen Thirty-six has been highly organized for this major event for years, and you have been one of the prime movers all along the way.

For your enthusiastic service to Dartmouth and '36, we are happy to honor you as "Dartmouth Class Chairman of the Year."
