USA Today recently devoted a page to three generations of Sheas, a family of winter sports champions that includes Jack Shea '34, who won two gold medals for speed-skating in the 1932 Olympics; son Jim, who competed in the 1964 Olympics in nordic combined and crosscountry skiing; and grandson Jimmy, who hopes to compete in the 2002 Olympic debut of the skeleton, a relatively new, low-slung, luge-like sled that's ridden face-forward, inches from the track.

On the tube, The NewsHourwith Jim Lehrer recently featured two Dartmouth trustees—one current, one former: Susan Dentzer '77 (who does most of the show's health-care reporting) and Robert Reich '68, interviewed on economic matters. Acouple of days later, during PBS's Eleanor Roosevelt bio, interviewee Russ Hemenway'49, director of the National Committee for an Effective Congress and a friend of the Roosevelts' children, imparted some insider knowledge.

Variety reports that an alum is turning her real-life Dartmouth experiences into a fictional TV sitcom for ABC. It's up-and-coming comic Aisha Tyler '92. Maybe sometime in the future there will be a TV drama about Tom Walker'70, recently appointed Chicago's aviation commissioner in charge of running O'Hare International. USA Today quotes Walker: "We want to be the best as well as the busiest."

And what about radio? Well, Garrison Keillor recently read a jim Schley'79 poem entitled "Cradle Song" on his daily "Writers' Almanac" public radiofeature. Also on NPR, FreshAir interviewed award-winning photographer Jim Nachtwey'70 about his new book, Inferno, a collection of his photojournalism from the last decade.

Three generations of Sheas have excelled at winter sports. Jack '34 won two gold medals in the 1932 Olympics, son Jim competed in the 1964 Olympics and grandson Jimmy hopes to compete in the 2002 games.
