PRESIDENTS and secretaries from forty Dartmouth alumni clubs were in Hanover on the weekend of September 28-29 for the annual fall meeting of the Dartmouth Club Officers Association. The 65 officers and 48 wives who were guests of the College set a new attendance mark for this sixth fall gathering since the club officers in 1957 began to hold their own meetings, apart from the annual class officers' meetings in the spring.
Among the club secretaries present was Didier Pineau-Valencienne '56T of the Dartmouth Club of Paris, who made a trans-Atlantic trip to be in Hanover for the weekend. The Dartmouth club in France is one of the most active alumni groups in foreign lands, and the presence of its secretary in Hanover was a highlight of the gathering.
A chance to inspect the Hopkins Center was provided for the club officers before a reception and dinner at the Hanover Inn opened the formal weekend program. Russell C. Dilks '51, secretary of the Dartmouth Alumni Association of Philadelphia and president of the Class Officers Association, presided at the dinner and also at the working session held later that evening in the Sanborn House library. Thaddeus Seymour, Dean of the College, spoke at the dinner and took exception to any idea that today's undergraduates, with all their academic quality, aren't just as interested and active in extracurricular life as Dartmouth men before them. He cited many new activities introduced since the war, gave some impressive participation figures, and disclosed that parachuting might become the newest activity. The speaker at the postdinner meeting was Seward Weber '49, National Enrollment Committee secretary.
On Saturday morning the club officers heard an informal talk by President Dickey at breakfast and then held their second major working session in Sanborn House. The latter meeting featured a panel discussion of club organization, membership, activities, and communications, led by Donald M. Sisson '45, secretary of the Bergen County (N. J.) club; Richard S. Carr Jr. '49, secretary of the New Haven club; and John C. Klein '52, secretary of the Cleveland club.
A buffet luncheon preceded the Dartmouth-Massachusetts football game, and that evening an informal supper party at the Outing Club House brought the planned program to a close. At a short business meeting after supper the award for the best club president of the year was bestowed upon Z. Waters White '36 of the New Haven club and the award for the best club secretary of the year upon Richard J. Loewenthal Jr. '53 of the Dartmouth Alumni Association of Chicago. Their citations will be found with their respective class columns in this issue.

Prosser '28, secretary of the Dartmouth Alumni Association of New York; Donald M. Sisson '45, secretary of the Dartmouth Club of Bergen County; and Richard J.
