The Dartmouth Club Officers Association last month at its annual Hanover meeting honored Zeb White '36 (l), president of the Dartmouth Club of New Haven, as Club President of the Year. The following citation was read by J. Michael McGean '49, Associate Secretary of the College:
Down in New Haven the Yales think they have finally corralled the exclusive services of their former graduate school student and instructor, Zeb White, who is now Professor of Industrial Forestry. But a Professor, and especially one with tenure, can startle a most well-meaning employer. Professor White of Yale University just happens to be a most efficient and effective President of the Dartmouth Club of New Haven. Testimony comes from numerous officers in the New Haven Club who claim their man is true blue only from 8 to 12 and 1 to 5 daily. That leaves lunch, the early evening, late evening, and early morning for Dartmouth business, and that has proven ample time for Zeb White to lead a firstrate Green operation.
After reference to Zeb's outstanding work last year on organizing luncheons, receptions, a club newsletter, and a scholarship fund, a New Haven alumnus wrote to Hanover:
"Zeb White has the sort of personality which assures a job well done. He can delegate authority without seeming to dictate, and generates enthusiasm among those he asks for help in carrying out the Club program. He has added new strength to our organization. With grace and cordiality he presides so well at our monthly luncheons, and all special events, that many new people have been drawn into the activities of the Club. We feel indeed fortunate in having him as our president."
Little needs to be added after those words, except our congratulations to the Club President of the Year.
