The following week at Harvard Stadium, the Indians continued to roll in high gear against the Crimson. The 24-6 win was sweetened by the knowledge that TV viewers throughout the East were watching along with 32,000 in the stands.

The Indians took the opening kick-off and proceeded to march to the Harvard 15-yard line, where Bill Wellstead, kicking from the 22, split the uprights for three points. The Crimson then countered with a drive of its own, but the Dartmouth defense rose to the occasion and, on a fourth-down play on its own 32, stopped Harvard cold.

The ball exchanged hands several times during the remainder of the first period, but early in the second a poor Harvard punt gave the Indians another scoring opportunity with a first down on the Harvard 34.

King rolled out to his right on a play which now characterizes the Dartmouth quarterback and went 23 yards to the 11. On the next play King went to his left, and when he saw that he had no receivers open he went the remaining 11 yards himself. Wellstead's extra point was good and the Indians led at the half 10-0.

The third period was scoreless, but just as the fourth period opened, fullback Tom Parkinson intercepted a Crimson pass and Dartmouth had a first down on the Harvard 37. A five-yard penalty set the Green back, but King more than made up for the loss with an 18-yard pass play to halfback John McLean. Four downs and the Green had a first down and goal to go on the Harvard 6. Lawson went over tackle for two yards and then King went wide around end for the TD.

With the minutes ticking away, the game appeared well in hand, but Harvard's senior quarterback, Terry Bartolet, unloaded a long aerial to halfback Bill Taylor, who outsprinted the Green secondary and went 82 yards for the first touchdown against the Indians this year.
