A recent $25,000 gift from The General Foods Fund, Inc., will be used to help the College launch its summer term in 1963, President Dickey has announced. The fourth term, putting Dartmouth on year-round operation, will not only have the novelty, for this college, of enrolling women as well as men, but will also offer the opportunity to experiment with new programs and procedures that can improve the quality of the College's overall educational program.

The General Foods Fund grant will thus help to back a significant educational innovation, President Dickey said. Building up attendance and programs for the summer term is likely to take several years, he added, and financial support at the start is greatly needed and appreciated.

The eight-week summer term, beginning July 1, will closely resemble Dartmouth's regular terms but will be adapted to meet special summer needs, with most students taking two courses instead of the usual three.
