Dartmouth men and wives turned out in record numbers to our annual Spring Dance on April 6 at the Ridgewood Country Club. The cool spring evening and the restful music of John Hofer and his quintet combined to enhance this very enjoyable occasion.
The highlight of the dance, of course, was the presentation of the Award of Merit, given each year to an outstanding alumnus for notable contributions to his chosen vocation. his community and to Dartmouth. Phil Van Huyck '24 was the recipient of this Award for 1963. As Club President Wood De Yoe '48 was making the presentation, he cited some of the many valuable efforts on the part of the recipient. In addition to a long list of services rendered to his profession and his community, Phil Van Huyck has established an enviable record of services to Dartmouth. He has served as Head Agent for the Class of '24 for the past seven years, served as Class President for two years and as Newsletter Editor for five years. At present he is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Alumni Association.
After the Award of Merit was presented the Nominating Committee took over and proposed a slate of officers for the 63-64 term. Elected were Bill Parmer '42, President, Don Sisson '45, Vice-President, EdSenghas '47, Secretary, Fred Wolf '53, Treasurer and Les Thornton '48, Corresponding Secretary.
