On Saturday, March 23, the Dartmouth Glee Club sang to a capacity crowd at the Westfield High School Auditorium. The proceeds are to be given to the College for scholarship funds. It goes without saying that the singing was enjoyed by all. However, it doesn't go without saying that a lot of people put in a lot of time and energy to make the affair a great success. Just to mention a few, Dick Sameth '59, our V.P., was the Concert Chairman. Bill Fead'44 handled the publicity and Ed Hobbie'59 and Dick Griggs '60 handled the posters. The housing committee was Dave Haight '60, Dave Nutt '44, Bob Hyde '44 and Bill McCarthy '39.

The concert was a joint venture with the Westfield Jaycees and Jim Lothrop '57 was the coordinator between the two groups. The concert advisers were: George Hetfield '31, Sonny Hetfield '29 and Lou Wilcox '23. Of course, the most important aspect of any concert is the ticket selling and this phase was chairmanned by our Treasurer, SkipHetfield '56. Each area had men that helped out. Plainfield was represented by Norm Robbie '37, Dave Rugen '38, Mort Smith '4B, Ed Maas '31, Perk Fitch '25 and Bill Schuldenfrei '31, Metuchen; Ralph Muehlig '50, Westfield; Bob Brower '42, Bob Hyde '44 and Pedro Salom '39, Scotch Plains; Wayne Hansen '53 and Mo Monahan '45, Summit; Ernie Hickok '24, Wally Barnes '45 and Bob DeSantis '56, Mountainside; Harold Simon '47, Union; Ron Post '56, Somerville: Ed Elsenhans '35 and Dave Rice '56, Cranford; Mil Hallenbeck '31. I know there are many others.

After the concert, about 300 of us went to the Plainfield Country Club for an informal get-together which was arranged by Bill McCarthy '39. The number at the Country Club, however, is said to be a conservative estimate by many who were at the bar. The moving force behind the whole success was our President, Kirby Fowler '56.I heard that the First National Bank of Somerset County and a wife named Pat Fowler are glad it's all over.

I am. quite sure after this wonderful show of Dartmouth spirit in connection with the Glee Club Concert that we will have a great Annual Dinner in late May.

Shown with President Dickey before the President's Dinner in Seattle are Dartmouthmen present who occupy positions of public responsibility in the Seattle area: (l to r)Kenneth Mac Donald '39, Chairman of the Washington State Board Against Discrimination; James Hodson '29, Judge of the Superior Court; George Stevens '31, Professor of Law and former Dean of the University of Washington Law School; GeorgeNickum '31, member of Bainbridge Island School Board; Philip Swain '37, member ofSeattle School Board; President Dickey; Slade Gorton '49, member of Washington StateLegislature; James Rice '31, member of Highline School Board; Dr. Charles Odegaard'32, President of the University of Washington. The dinner was held in mid-March
