The honor of being the 1963 Class Secretary
JUNE 1963

The honor of being the 1963 Class Secretary of the Year was bestowed on John A. VanRaalte '48 (1) at the annual spring gathering of Dartmouth class officers in Hanover last month. Sidney C. Hayward '26, Secretary of the College, made the award with the following citation:

During undergraduate years you were active in many campus affairs, including The Dartmouth, German Club, Outing Club, ski team, tennis and squash teams, your fraternity, and other activities. After serving in the U. S. Navy and then graduation, you entered the securities field in New York and have moved up the ladder with Goldman, Sachs & Company.

Assistant Class Agent for the Alumni Fund through the years, you became Secretary of '48 five years ago and have devoted your time and talents to working with and for your class as a model secretary. Your monthly column in the Alumni Magazine is straightforward, interesting prose, reporting news on a large number of different men. The Alumni Magazine staff appreciates receiving your class notes promptly on time every month, but if your copy is delayed you wire or phone Hanover to give the time of expected arrival.

Speaking of arrivals - congratulations on the birth of a new baby in the Van Raalte family good news that this daughter is now added to the family of three boys!

We are delighted to honor you as the Dartmouth Class Secretary of the Year.
